Economic Quantities

It is commonly believed that pressure diecasting is only economic for the production of large quantities of identical components. However this is not universally true, zinc alloy diecasting can produce precision components in shapes that are extremely difficult if not impossible to machine. As a consequence it is sometimes cost advantageous to diecast components in zinc for a total requirement of less than one thousand, even when the tooling costs run into tens of thousands of Euros. More usually however economic quantities begin at a total requirement of upwards of 5000 parts.
